Photos of Australian Armed Forces scenes depicted are the camp scenes of tired army battalions cooking food
over the camp fire some washing clothes having a well earned smoke.
Some of these soldiers served in the Middle East, some served defending Australia with and from our northern most neighbors such as New Guinea.
You will find that quite a number of the photos depicted are Papuan New Guinean people, these courageous natives of New Guinea were sometimes called fuzzy wuzzy angels.
These Papuan men were employed as carriers and played a vital role carrying supplies forward for the troops, as the number of troops who were wounded or fell sick increased, they then were carried back to the safety of those who were unable to walk.
Photographs depicting of some Australians that fought in appalling conditions, tragically more than 600 were killed and 1680 wounded during perhaps the most significant battle in world war 11.
Photos of the Australian Armed Forces are also telling the story of coast watchers these were mostly indigenous people from islands all around the south west pacific islands,as this area became the front line with Japan entering the war.
The coast watching teleradio station were set up to monitor islands to Australia’s north.
Photographs of aircraft that would drop supplies and submarines and PT boats would land and remove them.
More than 600 coast-watcher served in Australia, New Guinea and the Pacific Islands during world war 11. They included RAAF.AIF.RAN.1 WRAN.Us Marines and US Army personnel.
